Every page on our site, and everything you submit through it, travels over an encrypted connection (HTTPS) — the same standard banks and financial institutions use. Your browser will always show a lock icon when you're on our site. We don't offer an unencrypted version at all.
🔑 We never store your password in a readable form
The moment you set a password, it's run through a one-way transformation (a standard called bcrypt) before it's ever saved. What's stored isn't your password — it's a scrambled value that can confirm a login attempt is correct without ever revealing what the original password was, even to us. There's no "readable password list" anywhere to expose.
💳 Payments are handled by Stripe — not by us
When you pay a fee or make a purchase through JoanTool, your card details go directly to Stripe, the payment processor used by a large share of major online businesses. JoanTool never sees, transmits, or stores your card number. Only Stripe handles it, under its own bank-grade security standards.
🧭 Public tools only see what they're built to show
Some parts of our site — like the public vendor directory — don't require a login. Tools like these are deliberately built with their own narrow, limited access to our systems: each one can only reach the exact, specific information it's designed to display, and nothing more. A public page is never a broader window into resident or association data than what you can actually see on the page itself.
🔍 Regular internal review and testing
We regularly review and test our own systems, looking for ways to make them more secure. This is a standing, ongoing practice — not a one-time setup we did once and moved on from.
💾 Real, tested backups
Your association's data is backed up on a regular basis — and just as importantly, we actually test our ability to restore from those backups. A backup that's never been tested is just an assumption; we verify ours actually works.
